In our efforts to minimise environmental impact, we chose organic cotton bags and a logo stamp from UK suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability. Every part of this project, including the seemingly insignificant rubber bands we included, was thoughtfully considered to align with our values.
The metalwork componants are produced by hand in Bristol, using old bicycle spokes repurposed from a refugee bicycle project.
For the hand-turned wooden details, we used offcuts of Beech timber.
This is a custom-made heirloom product, produced in small batches of ten.

Nigel Little –
I’m a crafter (basket maker, bowl turner, knitter etc) but have always found darning/repairing garments a bit of a drag. I booked onto one one of Ali’s workshops having heard about the speed loom and it’s revolutionised my attitude to mending. Ali’s instructions on how to use the loom were clear and now my visible mending attempts are something to be proud of and shown off rather than hidden or obscured, and the fact that the loom itself is made from recycled materials only adds to the attraction. All in all a great workshop experience, great teaching from Ali and a great product that I’ll use for years to come. I now cannot wait for holes to appear in my socks!
Ali Clifford –
Nigel! Ah thank you, that’s amazing, I love that you gave me such wonderful feedback 🙂 Hope to come along to one of your Basketry workshops soon, so glad you are enjoying using my little repair loom, thanks again, ALi x
Sirle Oder –
Can I say I am slightly obsessed with my loom!? I eyed the mending loom for quite a while online by a different seller. But I happened to join one of Ali’s workshops and when I heard these looms are salvaged and upon hearing how they are actually produced I decided to purchase this one. Sustainability all the way!
I love the ease of using it, though I would recommend joining one of Ali’s workshops if you have a chance, to learn the tricks. The results are so beautiful, can’t wait to start patching up all my socks.
Ali Clifford –
You can definitely say that you’re obsessed with the incredibusy salvaged speed loom for sure 🙂
Thanks Sirle for taking the time to write a review, that means a lot to me, and really helps people to decide that investing in the heirloom loom is a good idea x
Looking forward to seeing your repaired socks x
Kat –
Love my new salvaged speed loom! I’m desperate for my jumpers to develop holes so I can practice mending them now 😂 I’ve been darning my clothes for years but now they’re much nearer and quicker to do! Thank you!
Ali Clifford –
Kat that is so lovely of you to take the time to leave a review, and it did make me chuckle too – years ago I used to despair when I spotted a tear or moth hole in my clothes, but now I’m delighted too as it means I can give it a new darned life like you are doing too! x thank you x
Kathy Forsytg –
The Salvaged Speed Loom, and the Repair Workshop, was sooooo good!
Fin and I had such a fantastic time, and I’m genuinely proud of the woven repair I created. We learned loads in just two hours your guidance made all the difference, you’re a great teacher Ali.
Ali Clifford –
Ah Kathy, I’m so glad that Fin had taken a Salvaged Speed Loom home with her after the workshop.
You were both a delight to teach, and Fin messaged me with photos of her repair work that she’s been doing at home with the loom.
thank you again for coming along x
Silke –
Apart from the lovely story behind how the loom and the piece of wood were created, it’s a beautiful and practical tool that meets all your mending needs! Weave ahead – be afraid, holes, you’ll soon be no more!
Ali Clifford –
Silke thank you for taking the time to review the salvaged speed loom, so glad you are enjoying sorting out those pesky holes… hope that it makes it a more enjoyable chore x
Madeline Meckiffe –
When I got home from my workshop I repaired another item immediately so I could solidify the process in my head. I remembered it all. The little looms are such a genius bit of kit, expertly explained by Ali. The fact they’re made from repurposed bicycle spokes and manufactured locally is environmentally inventive on so many levels.
Ali Clifford –
Madeline! Ah thank you, I really appreciated you sending me that photo of you repairing more socks after the workshop, so glad to see that you retained the ‘how to’ information 🙂 I must be doing something right ! x
Tracey –
I was fortunate enough to meet Ali and have a wonderful afternoon doing some mending using her super mini loom! So I couldn’t help but buy one for myself.
It’s really simple and effective to use and I’ve managed to rescue some gorgeous jumpers that had been ravaged by moths!
Ali Clifford –
I’m so glad that you are enjoying the salvaged speed loom Tracey. I love seeing my students sharing their repairs, so appreciate you finding me on instagram and sending me photos of your mends – long may your knitwear last now! Ali x
Ali Clifford –
Thank you Hannah, I love that – “more like a craft than a chore” and yes, that’s it – it’s a bit of an heirloom piece too I think. I appreciate you taking the time to leave this review, so kind of you x
Hannah Macklin –
I am so pleased with my salvaged speed loom and am currently in the midst of darning every holey item I own (which, by the way, is a lot of items). It feels more like a craft than a chore with this lovely device and it is very easy to get to grips with! This is something that will last me for the rest of my life and I’m so glad I invested. I’ve already got friends lining up to borrow it too! 🙂
Janice –
I love this little loom and how it turns mending from a chore into a small act of creativity. By selecting a few colours of yarn and setting up a simple warp, a patch of weave almost magically appears.
Ali has ensured that not only does her loom encourage us to care and repair our clothes and consume less, but also the loom is equally ethical, having been sourced from recycled materials. I especially enjoyed hearing that the hooks were made from bicycle spokes!
So pleased to own this special little bit of kit.
Ali Clifford –
Janice thank you so much for such lovely feedback, it was lovely to read that this morning 🙂 Long may your beautiful repairs continue x

Ali Clifford –
Oh I’m so glad you love it Lisa. It was a fun couple of hours meeting and teaching you this week, you picked it up really quickly, and I can’t wait to see more of your repairs 🙂 thank you for taking the time to leave such a glowing review 🙂
Helen (verified owner) –
I was lucky as I got a personal lesson. It was fun. The loom is easy to use but you need to know how to attach the garment and start off with the wool. It seemed the lovely weave/darn was finished in no time. And the loom is made of recycled materials so we are doubly saving the planet. As a person who easily loses things I specially love everything the loom needs comes in a little bag. A great buy, thank you, Ali!
Ali Clifford –
Oh Helen, thank you so much for such a lovely review of the salvaged speed loom.
I really enjoyed teaching you, you are a great student, your darning was so pretty!
and you always have the ‘how-to guide’ PDF as a back-up too. Looking forward to seeing more of your repairs soon.
