World Refill Day returns on June 16th – a Global Day of Action to spotlight reuse, refill, and return as real alternatives to single-use.
I’m taking part in the #5DayChallenge from June 16th-20th: five days of simple swaps that show how reuse can fit into everyday life.

Here’s how I am joining in:
🧴 Choose a refillable option.
☕ Skip the disposable cup or bottle.
🖊️Signing up via the website.
📲 Using the Refill Return app to find 330,000+ refill spots.
💧Find water on the go.
✊Eat, drink and shop with less waste.

Here’s a few example ideas for how I’ll be taking part in the Five Day Challenge:

Day one, and choose a refill natural deodorant bar and moisturiser from Earth Conscious.
Day two, take my BottleCup with me, so that I can take a bottle of water with me, and fill up my coffee in the clever coffee cup that’s integral to the bottle design!
Day three – pop a string bag into my pocket so that I’m not bringing home an unnecessary plastic carrier bag with me with my shopping.
Day four – visit my local refill store in Herne Hill to stock up on goodies.
The Refill Return App will help you find your local refill stores
And there will soon be a new shop on the high streets of Ruislip – meet REFILL YOUR CUP.

Natalie and Laura are firm friends who bonded over a love of running and yoga. They share a desire to live consciously and make more ethical choices. This has led to them becoming business partners, and co founders of Refill Your Cup, soon to be not only Ruislip’s first zero waste, refill, pay by weight store, but the first in the Borough of Hillingdon!
When open they’ll be selling dry food by the weight; think pulses, pasta, rice, oats. They’ll also be selling Laura’s favourite pick and mix sweets, and Natalie’s favourite freshly made nut butter!
As well as food, they’ll be stocking refillable household and personal care products.
The pair aim to open their doors at the end of summer, and in the meantime have adorned their shop windows with posters showcasing the devastating effects of plastic pollution on our marine life, and urge you to take a pledge to refill this World Refill Day.

Laura says that: “refilling can save you money with many coffee shops offering a discount when you bring your own cup. It also finds a use for all those empty take away containers collecting dust in your cupboards. These are perfect for meal preps and filling up with dried fruit, nuts, even popcorn at your local refill shop (like ours! Refill Your Cup). These changes can be cost effective, and convenient for us as consumers but also go a way to looking after the world we all live in”.
Natalie says “thinking about the world continuing to send the current volume of plastic and waste to landfill makes my tummy turn. We have to make more positive lifestyle choices now to provide a greener Earth for future generations.”
