Small local sustainability actions CAN make an impact; gently sowing seeds of global hope, for future generations to build upon
When Hannah White, founder of the Sound Lounge, messaged me to tell me she’d put me forward to do a TED talk, I was delighted and a little apprehensive to say the least.
The less said about ‘imposter syndrome’ the better – and I’m glad to report that the event in Sutton went swimmingly. I’ll keep this brief, and await notification as to when we’ll be able to share the video of the TEDx Sutton High Street talks. Without being too over emotional, I was totally honoured to be asked to speak, and thankful to my friends for their support. Kate Power is not only a brilliantly loyal and fun friend, she’s also an amazing coach (and author) and I highly recommend her if you are planning to present and have any feelings of anxiety about it.
Thank you too, to Kathy Forsyth for the flowers, the heckles, and photos of me with my “hair on fire”.
As is the wont of TEDx talks, one is not permitted to name-drop people, or businesses, however, here, on my blog – I can do that. So further mentions and links for you to explore are as follows:
Location – The Sound Lounge Sutton – the UK’s first Carbon Neutral Music Venue @soundloungecic
Hannah White – musician and epic woman @hannahwhitemusic and founder of the aforementioned.
Conor Spacey – Zero Waste Chef @spacey_chef and Maria’s speedy bike deliveries @quiver.hq for @ilovelowie.
Volunteer at the @suttoncommunityfarm and bring your kettle to be repaired at @yourspacesutton
My funny kind friend Amanda Banham @amandabanhamceramics
and Jill Barker for shaping my future @themiddlewick and a link to my gallery of ‘repair‘.
And most of all, thank you to Pam for being such a totally cool stalwart influence on her big sister; Paul for patience, and the funny finger puppet method for remembering my lines. And those two boys who live with me in my little house, the hope and future.
Let me know if you’d like to watch the video and I’ll add you to my mailing list here:
