Today’s ‘meet the creative’ guest post comes to you courtesy Madeleine, Primary Teacher, Mother, and Founder of Lost in Play eco-friendly Playdough kits.
Madeleine writes: Thank you to Ali, incredibusy.com for inviting me to share my story, and to Harriet In Stitch You for trying out our LOST IN PLAY eco-friendly playdough kits.

I’ve been a primary teacher for over 10 years, and during that time I’ve seen just how powerful play can be in helping children learn and grow.
During lockdown, whilst caring for a baby and trying to keep my two-year-old entertained, I discovered the magic of sensory play. I was amazed by the creative, open-ended opportunities it offered for independent learning, and I quickly became inspired to make my own sensory play materials in the Lost in Play eco-friendly playdough kits.
“What a wonderful box of goodies, I was so impressed with how my son engaged with each of the objects and how he created a little world with a narrative to go with it.”
Harriet Riddell, In Stitch You
As a parent, I was also overwhelmed by the amount of plastic that seemed unavoidable in children’s toys. I wanted to offer something different, beautiful, sustainable alternatives that children would love and parents could feel good about. That’s how Lost in Play was born.
At Lost in Play, I have created eco-friendly Playdough kits designed to spark imagination, independence, and joyful exploration. The playdough is made with natural, food-safe ingredients and biodegradable glitter, and packed in reusable tins. The additional items in each kit are carefully selected, sourced mainly from within the UK, and chosen for their low environmental impact, using as little plastic as possible. I also offer eco-conscious party bags designed to delight without the waste.

Looking ahead, I’m developing my playdough kits into curriculum-linked learning boxes to support children at home and in school. Lost in Play is a blend of everything I care about, education, creativity, and sustainability, and I’m excited to keep growing this meaningful, hands-on adventure.
