Grass Root lampshade š± grown from root, woven by nature
This morning I was pottering getting ready for a client meeting, and listening to Material Matters’ latest podcast episode. It was with suprise that I heard my name mentioned – listen here : https://materialmatters.design/Zena-Holloway itās a really interesting episode, Grant Gibson chatting to Zena Holloway about her path to RootfullĀ® is incredible.
Thank you of course, to Grant for the honourable mention.
Root Textiles are a fascinating natural fibre, so I know you’ll enjoy the episode.
Oh and this is the instagram reel Grant refers to here.
It sees me chatting with delight, catching up with the fabulous Zena Holloway, from RootfullĀ® as they had been growing yet more beautiful grass root textile and were exhibiting once more at Material Matters in London.
Honestly so inspiring. Zena creates wax casts, carved by hand, and from 3D printed templates, thus combining digital precision with natural growth to āprogramā living materials.
As a material innovation company RootfullĀ® is developing this mad textile by guiding plant root to āweaveā unique artefacts and surfaces. The process fuses sustainability, creativity, and natural artistry and I LOVE IT. šš¼
Canāt wait to see how Zena takes this forward, recently winning the GOLD š„ at Chelsea Flower Show, and both a QEST craft scholarship and Innovate UK grant I just know this is going to FLY!
